In 1998, Sices Material Products celebrated its 50th year in business. Business longevity is not an accident; rather it is the result of steady management and years of hard work. Over the years our product focus has gradually changed, but our philosophy has remained the same:

We are proud members of many associations. We are members of the Association of Wall & Ceilings Industries (AWCI). We have been members of the Northwest Indiana Building Industry Association (BIA) for over 35 years. We have joined AMAROK, a nationwide, cooperative association of independent drywall distributors. AMAROK means "wolf" in the Inuit language, and we are a proud member of the pack. Our History
Sices Material Products was founded in 1948 by Edward Sices. The primary role of the business in those days was as a wholesale link in the distribution chain between manufacturer and retail lumberyard. The 1950's was a period of rapid economic growth and expansion in our region. During this period we primarily sold roofing, asphalt siding, peg board, underlayment, and tempered hardboard. By the 1960's we found that the distribution channel for building materials was collapsing. We changed our focus from serving lumberyards to serving residential and commercial contractors, government accounts, and institutional accounts, as we still do today. We took on new products, such as drywall and aluminum siding. In 1966 we purchased our first truck with an integrated crane, commonly referred to as a boom-truck. Our specialized delivery service grew over time as we became proficient at material handling and job-site service.
Through the years, the ownership and management of the business has remained in the Sices family. In the 1960's and 1970's, after the death of Edward Sices, the company was managed by his wife Mrs. Florence Sices. In that era it was rare to find a woman in the top management of a material supply company, but Mrs. Sices proved the exception. Her leadership and vision paved the way for her son, David Sices. David is the present owner and president of Sices Material Products. Since the mid 1990's, Edward Sices (son of David) has joined the company and become an integral part of the operations today.
